Big news here: the Flaming Lips, Oklahoma’s premiere freak-rockers, have set a release date for their new double album titled Embryonic. The expected release date is September 29, 2009. It will be the Lips’ first album since 2006’s At War with the Mystics, which recieved generally favorable reviews. In an interview with Billboard, frontman Wayne Coyne described the songs as “Joy Division meets Miles Davis’ Bitches Brew era kinda stuff”. It sounds interesting and we’re very anxious to hear it.
